Vanessa Schuldt, an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD), Accredited Nutritionist (AN) and member of the Dietitians Association of Australia (DAA), is the brains behind Nutrition Speak. With a Master of Science degree in nutrition & dietetics and over fifteen years experience in health promotion, nutrition marketing and health & fitness writing, Vanessa is a well-regarded expert within the nutrition field.
Prior to establishing 'Nutrition Speak', Vanessa worked for a leading group of nutrition professionals providing consultancy to the food industry. Over a four-year period, Vanessa worked with some of Australia's largest food companies, including Nestlé Australia, Unilever Australasia, Golden Circle Ltd, Merisant (Equal products), Crowne Plaza Hotels and Clorox (GLAD products). In this role, Vanessa provided strategic counsel on new product development, product reformulations and food regulations. She also assisted brand teams with nutrition marketing and was a valued copy writer for many materials, including food packages, brochures, flyers, cookbooks, websites, advertorials and media releases.
In addition to the extensive food industry experience slotted under her belt, Vanessa has sound public health nutrition skills and know-how, which was obtained from her three-year position as Public Health Nutritionist with the National Heart Foundation of Australia (NHFA), and her four-year term as Community Nutritionist with the Greater Murray Area Health Service.
As Public Health Nutritionist with the NHFA, Vanessa managed the Foundation's "Takeaway Food Project". Vanessa also took a leadership role in developing and updating many of the Foundation's consumer information booklets and resources. She was the chief nutrition writer and one of the project managers for the highly successful Heart Foundation cookbook titled "Deliciously Healthy".
Vanessa is an experienced consumer writer, having completed further studies in journalism. She has contributed to a large number of Australian newspapers and magazines, including 'Slimming', 'Simply Lite', 'Canteen News', 'My Child' and more recently 'Good Health', an Australian health and wellbeing magazine.
